Do You Know About Chickpea Sprout Extract?
About Chickpeas
Chickpeas:The chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is an annual or perennial plant belonging to the Fabaceae family and the Cicer genus. It is also commonly known as garbanzo bean, Bengal gram, or Egyptian pea. Chickpeas contain the six essential nutrients required by the human body and are rich in various plant proteins, amino acids, vitamins, crude fiber, as well as minerals like calcium, magnesium, and iron. Due to their rich nutritional profile, they play a significant role as a supplementary grain in improving nutrition. Furthermore, because of their multiple health-beneficial properties—such as helping to control cholesterol, preventing type 2 diabetes, exhibiting anticancer activity, and aiding in weight management—chickpeas can also be considered a functional food. They are rich in high-quality plant protein, dietary fiber, various vitamins and minerals, and also contain antioxidants. With a low glycemic index, they are suitable for vegetarians, individuals managing blood sugar levels, and those seeking a daily healthy diet. Every 100 grams of chickpeas provides approximately 19 grams of protein, including 8 essential amino acids, making them particularly suitable for vegetarians as a partial substitute for animal protein. Their protein digestibility and utilization rate are relatively high, helping to maintain muscle health and promote tissue repair.

About the Production Process Flow:

Why Use Chickpea Sprouts as a Raw Material:Research indicates that during the germination process of chickpeas, their isoflavone content undergoes significant changes. After germination, the total isoflavone content in chickpeas increases by 91 times. The isoflavone content found in chickpea sprouts is 4.65 times that of black bean sprouts.

About Equol:Equol is an active substance produced from the metabolism of soy isoflavones by intestinal flora. It belongs to the class of phytoestrogens and exhibits weak estrogenic activity and antioxidant properties. Its physiological effects are closely related to individual differences in gut microbiota; only about 30%-50% of people can naturally produce it. Currently, the most common production process on the market is through lactic acid bacteria fermentation, with Japanese technology appearing particularly mature in this area. For example, Japan's Otsuka Pharmaceutical holds patented technology for producing Equol and patented lactic acid bacteria. Similarly, Daicel Corporation in Japan also produces Equol, and Charcoal Plus Lab Co., Ltd. also possesses its own patented Equol product. In contrast, the most common production method in the Chinese market currently is chemical synthesis. Although chemical synthesis offers low cost and enables large-scale production, it can suffer from solvent residue issues. Therefore, it is not favorable for clients who prioritize natural ingredients. Consequently, fermentation is a more favored and popular production method. The Equol produced by our company through the germination of chickpeas followed by enzymatic hydrolysis and other processes is derived from microbial fermentation, contains no organic solvents, and is safe with no side effects. We have optimized the germination and fermentation processes to ensure maximum activity of the effective components, making them easy to absorb. The content is also ≥5%, significantly higher than in common foods. In terms of application, it is in powder form, making it easy to add to various foods and health products. Therefore, our chickpea sprout extract is a relatively unique and safe raw material in the market. We believe it will become a product with significant advantageous potential.
