Introduction of Hericium Erinaceus Extract

Hericium erinaceus has a 3,000-year history of consumption in China. There are folk proverbs about Hericium erinaceus, such as "Eating more Hericium erinaceus can make you look younger" and "Hericium erinaceus is the best for nourishing the stomach", which shows that Hericium erinaceus has a good anti-aging and stomach-nourishing effect. In China, Hericium erinaceus is used to make nourishing porridge, stomach-nourishing soup, and cooking dishes. In recent years, Hericium erinaceus polysaccharides are extracted and Hericium erinaceus polypeptides are hydrolyzed to make stomach-nourishing medicines, health foods, and beverages. Hericium erinaceus is used as a dietary supplement and coffee companion in the United States and Europe, which is very popular among consumers.
In recent years, pure Hericium erinaceus powder has become popular in the market. It is obtained by directly crushing Hericium erinaceus and is used for dietary supplements, meal replacements, coffee companions, and baked products. However, because Hericium erinaceus itself contains insoluble dietary fiber, it has poor water solubility and a general taste.
Using I Enzymolysis TechTM technology, oligosaccharides and Hericium erinaceus polypeptides are obtained by enzymolysis of insoluble dietary fiber and protein, which largely solves the water solubility problem of Hericium erinaceus and gives Hericium erinaceus a wider application space.

Functions of Hericium Erinaceus Extract

1. Repair gastric mucosa

The study showed that compared with the blank group, Hericium erinaceus polysaccharide can significantly inhibit the secretion of IL-6, IL-8, and IL-12 of Caco-2 cells stimulated by LPS, and can increase the secretion of IL-10 and INF-γ. At the same time, Table 5 shows that Hericium erinaceus polysaccharide can significantly inhibit the secretion of IL-6 and IL-12 in the Caco-2/RAW264.7 co-culture system stimulated by LPS.

The study found that with the increase of polysaccharide concentration (0-5 mg/mL), the inhibitory effects of the four Hericium erinaceus polysaccharides on α-glucosidase and α-amylase showed an increasing trend, and had a significant dose-dependent relationship. Among them, HEP-C had the strongest inhibitory effect on these two enzymes. At 5.0 mg/mL, the inhibitory capacity of HEP-C on α-glucosidase and α-amylase was 73.66% and 65.92%, respectively.

3. Improve Immunity

The study found that the phagocytic activity of RAW264.7 cells was significantly enhanced in the concentration range of 100~1000ug/mL, and the secretion of NO, IL-6, and TNF-α was significantly promoted. At the same time, the expression levels of iNOS, IL-6, and TNF-α mRNA were also significantly increased.

The study found that as the mass concentration of HEP (Hericium erinaceus polypeptide) increased, its binding rate to cholesterol in egg yolk liquid gradually increased. The reason is that within a certain mass concentration range, the more polypeptide molecules there are in a space of the same size, the greater the probability of contact with cholesterol micelles, causing more cholesterol micelles to be destroyed.
